The wonderous works of mosaic is considered one of the more coveted forms of art to date. Spanning centuries, rich in history, this form of artistic expression was first aimed at creating visual decorations of floors. Dating as far back as 4th millennium BC, the first of its kinds was discovered in ancient Greece where the Romans ruled. A lot of the mosaic art the depicted the rise and falls of empires but none as impactful and beautiful as the town of Ravena, Italy in the 5th century. Glittering, stunning mosaic adorned the walls of buildings symbolizing Christian rule within the Roman Empire.

Having declined over the years though, interest in mosaic picked up again in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Today, it finds itself in a vigorous and vital position within the art of world. Artist today use mosaic as a mean of self –expression for creating objects of design. There is never one right direction however, except knowing and understanding the material and potential. Mosaic is very much alive today as seen in modern developments in material and techniques. Its usage alone has expanded from artistic mosaic to industrial mosaics, products for construction, architecture products and decoration for outdoor spaces, flooring, sacred art, schools, marble works, fountains and swimming pools.

Company History

Mosaic Manifesto (M) Sdn Bhd was started by a group of people who's love in Mosaic. As the demand to keep Mosaic-art upsurge, We set up an factory in 2006 to accommodate the bigger team of mosaic artists, At the following year, First Company Show-Room was opened and locate in Penang.

The word, Mosaic means 'patient work of art, worthy of the muses'. And that's the concept of Company. Artists are highly specialised in their respective skills. Every piece is cut by hand, Without any machinery operate.The passion and commitment is apparent in the projects, To accomplish works and products that are ideal in the field of design and architecture.

Mosaic Art , Pebble Art or Both

Combining both traditional materials such as smalti (Byzantine glass mosaic tile), glass mosaic tile, ceramic, and more unusual or collected objects such as shells, pebbles or broken china makes for an interesting design. Using a variety of materials encourages minds for endless and challenging creativity.

Every material used determines your style and brings out a multitude of colours to your living space. For example, smaltis are perfect for mosaics with a medieval or renaissance look; whereas ceramics, which are easily cut to specific shapes, can be produce highly textured surfaces with interesting and sometimes humorous designs. Shells, like pebbles, rely heavily on the artist gathering a modest collection; probably while walking along the beach or a riverbank. That, mixed with a variety of other stones, can be produce stunning and impressive mosaics. The end result is both exhilarating and unique for no two mosaics anywhere in the world are identical.
